Flowcrete has been involved in the development of a sustainable new-build shopping and entertainment complex in the heart of Liège City Centre, Belgium.
The new complex offers ample retail space, a post office, ice rink, cinema, bowling alley, as well as restaurants and office space. Not only set to regenerate the city culturally and economically the new centre, which has been designed by London-based Israeli architect, Ron Arad, with the help of Chapman Taylor, RTKL, Wilhelm & Co as well as Jaspers & Eyers, has earned environmental accreditation under BREEAM with a variety of exciting green features intended to boost the construction’s ecological offerings.
Flowcrete has supplied over 10,800 sq metres of its environmentally friendly seamless terrazzo, Mondéco, in a specially formulated blend to floor all major walkways within the mall. Containing a creative mix of natural marble and crystal aggregates sealed within a coloured resin binder, Mondéco is the environmentally friendly choice for eco-savvy specifiers.
Mondéco combines excellent aesthetics with a hardwearing finish that remains at its best for up to twenty-five years. In a stunning display of flooring design, the Mondéco terrazzo has been applied in a unique pattern, which sees specially formulated hues of blue, grey, cream and beige sweep across the floor to create a talking point for shoppers underfoot.
In addition 15,000 sq metres of Flowcrete’s semi-dry cementitious floor screed, Isocrete K-Screed, has been installed across all main concourses of the mall and in a number of the retail units themselves. Containing the innovative K-additive, a plasticising and accelerating admixture, our Isocrete K-Screed was chosen for its ability to achieve exceptional drying and curing times while at the same time delivering a strong level platform on which to lay a wide choice of floor finishes including tiles, carpet, wood, vinyl, and seamless resin.
Some 16,000 sq metres of Deckshield car park decking has also been used to refurbish the mall’s underground car park.
