Flowcrete has used its ATB-300® corrosion protection system at one of the world’s oldest companies working within the chemical goods industry - Azoty Tarnów, part of the Great Chemical Synthesis Group, located in the Malopolska region of Poland.
Azoty Tarnów is Poland’s leading manufacturer of engineering plastics, mineral fertilizers and chemicals. The company, which was created between the 1920s and 1930s on the initiative of Ignacy Mościcki, the President of the Republic of Poland, constituted one of the biggest Polish economic investments in the interwar period and now sells its products into over 40 different countries worldwide.
Flowcrete’s shrink-free vinyl ester resin system has been installed in Azoty’s Artificial Fertilizer production plant, which had previously seen the build-up of dust sediment on all surfaces caused by the aggressive nature of the chemicals used in its processes combined with ineffective surface coating systems.
ATB-300® systems have been used on all floors, ceilings and walls to give the round-the-clock corrosion protection in two existing buildings, where the floor area had to be renovated and one new facility - built to expand operations at the site.
In total over 8,000m2 of ATB-300® RC, a roller-coat system with thermal resistance up to 145°C was used to coat all walls and ceilings and over 4,000m2 of ATB-300 GL, a glass fibre reinforced lining system with excellent chemical resistance properties was used across the floor area.
Work at the site also included the installation of the ATB-300® system in some of the more difficult locations including underneath silos and heavy machinery as well as all coves. In addition, 1,000m2 of Flowcrete’s Peran STB – a colourful, yet durable resin quartz system was applied in Azoty’s adjoining warehouse.
