Flowcrete Scores At State-of-the-Art Sports Village
Flowcrete’s unique Floorzone Solution - which caters for the complete floor area – has been installed at a new £27 million landmark Scottish sporting development.
The Floorzone Solution incorporates Flowcrete’s Isowarm underfloor heating, Isocrete K-Screed and decorative resin finishes - all designed, manufactured and supplied by Flowcrete and installed by Flowcrete approved contractors.
The Peak, in Stirling, is a major new Sports Village developed for Stirling Council and includes a nine-court sports hall, six-sheet ice rink and a 25 metre, six lane swimming pool.
Architects for the development were S & P Architects and the centre, which also includes health and fitness facilities, a 12 metre climbing wall, café and licensed restaurant facilities, was built by Barr Construction.
Isowarm underfloor heating and Isocrete K-Screed were all installed across the gymnasium, entrance reception, foyer, main areas and changing facilities – covering a surface area of almost 3,000 square metres.
The underfloor heating allows complete heat control across the different zones, for example allowing the gymnasium to be cooler than areas where higher temperatures are required, such as the changing rooms.
Isowarm also offers energy savings of up to 25 per cent compared to conventional systems and - hidden from sight underneath the ground - frees up space. A single warranty covers both the underfloor heating and screed.
Flowcrete’s durable coating Flowcoat SF41 was also installed at the site – along with the two hour flooring concept Flowfast, in a decorative quartz finish. This innovative floor is ready for use just hours after application – helping to speed up construction programme times – and its anti-slip finish serves the health and safety needs of the leisure sector.
Industrial Floor Treatments (IFT) installed the Isocrete K-screed, Reid Underfloor Heating (Scotland) the Isowarm underfloor heating and Veitchi Industrial Flooring (Scotland) installed Flowcrete’s resin finishes. M & E Contractor was Vaughan Engineering
