A series of high quality retail food stores in South Africa has been given a brand new upscale look with a seamless flooring system from Flowcrete that will help keep customers coming back.
Fruit & Veg Stores of South Africa is a national chain with retail outlets selling high quality meats, cheeses, fresh fruit and vegetables. The chain, who had originally selected ceramic tiles as the floor finish for its networks of stores, turned to Flowcrete after receiving a demonstration of the quality look of a newly installed seamless resin flooring system over traditional tiles.
Fruit & Veg Stores selected a system known as Peran STB, a hard wearing, decorative resin floor topping comprising colour stable quartz granules encapsulated in a clear resin binder. The joint-free finish of the system eliminates the cracks and crevices known to harbour dirt, dust and bacteria – making the floor more hygienic and easier to clean as well as presenting a clear benefit over tile finishes.
High scratch resistance is an added benefit in the tough retail environment where pedestrian traffic trolleys and storage pallets are constant factors. High chemical resistance makes Peran STB particularly suited for areas where food and drink are prepared and served.
The 2,200m² installation at Fruit & Veg’s flagship Rynfield store (pictured above), is the seventh outlet to be completed by the Flowcrete team.
In dry, wet, heavy and very heavy industries, such as engineering, pulp and paper, vehicle manufacturing, food processing and anywhere where there is fork-lift traffic, Peran STB offers added flexibility with the ability to apply thick layers and different anti-slip structures. Workshops with truck aisles, the food industry, catering kitchens, car parks and supermarkets all qualify as candidates for Peran STB.
